Pedro Almodóvar to receive a Donostia Award at the 72nd edition of the San Sebastian Festival

Spain’s most internationally famous director, screenwriter and producer will receive a tribute on Thursday 26th prior to the screening of his latest film, ‘La habitación de al lado / The Room Next Door’

On 26th September, the director, screenwriter and producer Pedro Almodóvar will receive a Donostia Award at the 72nd edition of the San Sebastian Festival. Presentation of the honorary award, which recognises the extraordinary contribution to the world of cinema by the person receiving the tribute, will take place in the Kursaal Auditorium prior to the screening of his latest movie, La habitación de al lado / The Room Next Door, his first feature film in English, starring Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore, to compete for the Golden Lion at the upcoming Venice Festival. It will be Swinton who will be on stage to present the award to him.

After the success of last year, the Masterclasses and Conversations with cinema personalities are back at the 81st Venice International Film Festival of La Biennale di Venezia, with a richer program and in a new and larger (250 seats) location – the Match Point Arena, set up at the Tennis Club Venezia on the Lido (Lungomare Marconi, corner via Emo, in front of the Hotel Excelsior, free entry for accreditations at the 81stVFF)).

In particular, four Masterclasses will be held by directors and performers, including the actress Sigourney Weaver (Golden Lion for Career) on Thursday 29 August at 4.30 pm, the director Peter Weir (Golden Lion for Career) on Sunday 1 September at 3.30 pm, the actor Ethan Hawke on Monday 2 September at 10.00 am and the director Pupi Avati on Friday 6 September at 3.30 pm (author of the closing film L'orto americano), which can also be followed in livestream on www.labiennale.org. 

French Riviera Film Festival Announces 2024 Award Recipients; Festival Honors Actor Martin Rodriguez (Griselda) and Actress Lang Khê Tran (Official Selection, Grand Tour)

The sixth annual French Riviera Film Festival, celebrating short film and short-form content from around the globe, has unveiled the 2024 award winners. The event was highlighted by special award presentations to Argentine actor Martin Rodriguez (Netflix's Griselda), who received the Industry Excellence Award; and actress Lang Khê Tran, star of the Cannes Official Selection, Miguel Gomes' Grand Tour, who received the Rising Star Award.
