Line-up for the coming Ramsgate Inernational Film Festival 2024

The Ramsgate International Film Festival is a celebration of new works by local and international filmmakers, embracing innovative storytelling and new technologies, where diversity and inclusion are a matter of fact. The festival wants to nurture emerging talents and confirmed filmmakers.

The Ramsgate International Film Festival is held in Ramsgate with its stunning Royal Harbour, unique in England and its surroundings. The organisation also runs a variety of screenings throughout the year to bring more international independent cinema to local audiences as well as various events and workshops.

The Festival focus is to show new works and help promote film makers. Screenings are complemented by a strong programme of quality events and seminars, with industry professionals of high reputation, who have already confirmed their attendance.
All screenings are chosen by the Selection Committee, which is composed of a panel of industry professionals and local residents.To add to the experience, festival goers will have the opportunity to explore the area rich in culture, maritime heritage and historic architecture, and enjoy its waterside and cafés.

NatureTrack Film Festival (NTFF) is a three-day celebration of nature and outdoor adventure through film. Started in Los Olivos in 2018, the festival has showcased hundreds of national and international filmmakers’ works to the thrill and delight of thousands of attendees. In 2024 NTFF will celebrate its 6th anniversary and will be held in Goleta, CA, bringing the festival to a wide and inclusive community full of nature enthusiasts and film lovers, as well as a region famous for its world class hospitality.

Malta’s Mediterrane Film Festival has welcomed the international film community and local cinema lovers to its second edition, which is running from now until 30th June in the enchanting capital of the country, Valetta. The Count of Monte Cristo – which was partly shot in Malta and features in the festival’s Out of Competition selection – had its international premiere last night in the heart of the capital, St George’s Square, kicking off the second edition with an introduction from the festival’s Artistic Director, Teresa Cavina.

The classic film by and with Vittorio De Sica, L’oro di Napoli (The Gold of Naples, 1954) starring Eduardo De Filippo, Sophia Loren, Silvana Mangano, Paolo Stoppa and Totò, will be the Pre-opening film on Tuesday August 27th of the 81st Venice International Film Festival of La Biennale di Venezia, on the 50th anniversary of the death of Vittorio De Sica and the 70th anniversary of the film.


L'oro di Napoli, which is part of the Venice Classics programme of the 81st Venice Film Festival (28 August – 7 September), will be screened on August 27th in Sala Darsena on the Lido di Venezia at 9 pm, with the world premiere of the digital 4K version restored by Cinecittà upon initiative of Filmauro Srl di Aurelio e Luigi De Laurentiis, based on the 35mm camera negative and the 35mm mono soundtrack negative, under the artistic supervision of Andrea De Sica.

Sheffield DocFest announced today that the 2024 Audience Award is presented to Strike: An Uncivil War directed by Daniel Gordon (UK).



The film had its World Premiere at the 31st edition of Sheffield DocFest on 16 June 2024, and director Daniel Gordon and contributors Morag Livingstone, Ian Mitchell, Jim Tierney and Jon McCure were in attendance for a special post-screening conversation.



Strike: An Uncivil War tells the story of the most violent confrontation between miners and police during the 1984/85 Miners’ Strike in Great Britain - The Battle of Orgreave. Nationwide preview screenings will play on 18 June marking the 40th anniversary of the events at Orgreave, before a general theatrical release on 21 June.

I’m excited to announce that I’m joining Steve Demmler’s Talon Entertainment Finance as the Head of Physical Production. Talon is doing some exciting things in the industry. As a company Talon is really taking off. They are producing films, acquiring soundstages, partnering with established production companies and so much more.

See you at this year’s 28th Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival, which will take place from October 25 until November 3, 2024.

This year, for the first time, we are extending the festival from six to ten days. This expansion will allow us to screen films multiple times, ensure the availability of comfortable accommodations for our guests, and make the festival more inclusive for disadvantaged audiences.

For the competition and non-competition sections, we are preparing a selection of the latest, distinctive and thematically relevant films. The winner of the mention will be awarded a cash prize worth € 300 offered by FIC – Federazione Italiana Cineforum.

Awards from the 19th Geneva International Oriental Film Festival (FIFOG)

The 19th Geneva International Oriental Film Festival (FIFOG) took place from June 10 to 16 in Geneva. The theme of this year’s edition was Knowledge and Recognition of the Other. It was chaired by Lebanese writer Joumana Haddad.

This year’s edition was a great success, marked by many emotional moments. Festival-goers rediscovered the joy and pleasure of watching a wide variety of films, and exchanging ideas with filmmakers, actors and journalists from all over the world.

58th KVIFF Welcomes Viggo Mortensen, Steven Soderbergh, Clive Owen, Daniel Brühl and More Renowned Filmmakers

This year’s 58th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will host actor-director Viggo Mortensen. At the festival’s opening ceremony, Mortensen will receive the Festival President’s Award and also present his film The Dead Don’t Hurt, which he wrote and directed.

Ex Oriente Series 2024: Launching the 2nd Year at Sunny Side of the Doc


We are thrilled to announce the kickoff of the Ex Oriente Series 2024 1st session, taking place at the prestigious Sunny Side of the Doc festival. This event marks the second year of the Ex Oriente Series, a program dedicated to developing and supporting innovative docuseries projects from Central and Eastern Europe.
The Ex Oriente Series is supported by Creative Europe MEDIA, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, and the Czech Film Fund.

The first session, scheduled from Sunday, June 23 to Tuesday, June 25 in La Rochelle, France, will once again be led by leading tutor Ruth Reid, a distinguished creative producer renowned for her impactful work in the documentary field. Reid will bring her expertise to six carefully selected docuseries projects, guiding them through the initial stages of development. Her role as the leading tutor promises to provide invaluable insights and direction to the participants.

13 International Projects Selected Across the Strand’s 360 Videos, VR Standalone and Immersive Installations Categories



Malta’s Mediterrane Film Festival - taking place from 22nd June to 30th June 2024 in the enchanting capital of the island, Valletta - has selected 13 immersive virtual reality projects for its Future Visions programme strand, which is headed up by the independent interactive story architect Michel Reilhac. The international projects will span 360 Videos, VR Standalone and Immersive Installation categories – sitting under the Mediterrane Film Festival’s overall theme for 2024: ‘Unity through Film’.



Michel Reilhac is an immersive storyteller, making films in Virtual Reality, creating participatory experiences in real life and across media. He is the founding curator of Venice VR, the official competition of creative VR content for the Venice Biennale International Film Festival. He is Head of Studies for the Venice Biennale College Cinema and for the Venice Biennale College Cinema VR, alongside the curator of the VR section for Series Mania.

Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) launches new Doc@PÖFF competition programme

 

Tallinn Black Nights Festival adds the sixth competition programme, Doc@PÖFF, to it's 28th edition taking place in November 2024. Submissions are open until the 25th of August.

Doc@PÖFF will join the existing competitions - The Official Selection, First Feature, Baltic Film, Critic's Picks and Rebels with a Cause - and will showcase up to 15 feature documentaries handpicked by the new Doc@PÖFF programming team. The new team is led by Estonian documentary director, producer and Associate professor at the Baltic Film & Media School of Tallinn University, Marianna Kaat (The Last Relic, PÖFF 2023). The other three programmers are: self-shooting producer/director Mike Arnott, who has also worked on documentaries for BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5, Discovery, ITV, National Geographic, PBS and Showtime; long-time PÖFF programmer Edvinas Pukšta; and the head of Youth and Children's Film Festival Just Film, Mikk Granström.

The 71st Sydney Film Festival (5-16 June) opened tonight at the State Theatre with the World Premiere of Midnight Oil: The Hardest Line.

Festival Director Nashen Moodley opened the Festival to a packed auditorium including Midnight Oil: The Hardest Line director Paul Clarke and Midnight Oil frontman Peter Garrett.

Dances With Films: LA announced the film lineup for the return of Los Angeles’ largest indie film-focused film festival (June 20-30) for its 27th edition. Adding a new co-presenting partnership with Outfest for additional LGBTQIA+ programming, a beefed-up Midnight Horror and Genre section, as well as continuing the celebration of music, dance, and family friendly programming in the Downbeat and Kidz sections, all will contribute to the most robust film schedule DWF has produced to date. That packed schedule will be bookended by the world premieres of Mahesh Pailoor’s heartfelt drama Paper Flowers as the Opening Night selection and Terre Weisman’s Max Dagan on Closing Night. All screenings will take place at the TCL Chinese Theatre (6925 Hollywood Blvd).

13th International Uranium Film Festival Award Winners 2024



The 13th International Uranium Film Festival (IUFF) Rio de Janeiro 2024 has given its festival trophies and awards at Rio de Janeiro's Modern Art Museum (MAM Rio) Cinematheque on Saturday, first of June 2024. Over the course of a week, 22 “atomic" films from 16 countries were shown in the cinema of renowned MAM Rio which was chosen by the Brazilian government to host the G20 summit later this year. The awards and honorable mentions of this unique film festival also known as the Atomic Age Cinema Fest were given to productions and directors from USA, Canada, Japan, India, Chile and Germany.

Ainsi qu’une découverte de 4 courts métrages européens soutenus par Alca Nouvelle-Aquitaine et une carte blanche au Festival International du Film Court d’Angoulême, en 8 films.


Le Fema a créé cette année une nouvelle section AU COEUR DU DOC où vous pourrez découvrir 18 documentaires en présence de nombreux cinéastes.







Enfin, une exposition en « 3 pauses » photographiques et 11 clips autour de Richard Dumas est à retrouver jusqu’au 18.07 dans 4 lieux de La Rochelle : La Sirène, le Carré Amelot, la tour de la Lanterne et la Galerie Ephémère.


En partenariat avec la Sirène - Espace musiques actuelles de l'agglomération de La Rochelle, le Centre des monuments nationaux, Astre - Réseau arts plastiques et visuels en Nouvelle-Aquitaine et le réseau Diagonal.

Le Calendrier des 300 séances (par jour et par salle) sera mis en ligne le LUN 17.06.
