Rock Horror Film Festival 2024 announces selections and dates



The Rock Horror Film Festival 2024 happens from September 19th to October 02nd at the Cinesystem Botafogo


The Rock Horror Film Festival is back to shake your bones and raise your every hair with an exciting selection of 50 films from 17 countries in six breathtaking categories: Sinister Features, Bizarre Featurettes, Strange Docs, Macabre Shorts, Haunted Brazil and Pills of Fear. This year, our selection of fantastic films will be shown in the heart of the wonderful city at the Cinesystem Botafogo.

SOME OF THE SELECTION HIGHLIGHTS
Among the features and docs some very well-known names from the world of horror and rock ‘n’ roll that will excite the cinema goers:

DEATH LINK (USA) Director: David Lipper
Featuring a cast of American teen stars that amount to whopping, no more no less than 14 million online followers in the web such as: Elise Luthman (Euphoria, The Politician), Jessica Belkin (American Horror Story: Hotel, Pretty Little Liars), Riker Lynch (Glee, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Matt Rife (Wild N Out), Alli Simpson (Filthy Rich & Homeless), Isabella Blake-Thomas (Secret Society of Second Born Royals), David Lipper (Full House, Dante's Peak), Adam Garcia (Coyote Ugly, Murder on the Orient Express), Steven Clark (Pop Roz)

TALES OF BABYLON (UK) Director: Pelayo de Lario
This original and sarcastic English feature brings besides gore and fun, a cast of high rollers such as: Clive Russell (Game of Thrones), Billie Gadsdon (Cruella), Aaron Cobham (The Spanish Princess), Paul Cassidy (Outlander), Maria Crittell (Doctors), Ray Calleja (Mr. Selfridge).

THE QUANTUM DEVIL (USA) Director: Larry Wade Carrell
The awarded feature filmed in Serbia comes with stars such as: Neil Dickson (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Inland Empire, Zack Snyder's Justice League), Robert Englund (Nightmare on Elm St, V, Stranger Things S4), Tyler Tackett, Ariadna Cabrol, Edward Apeagyei, Tamara Radovanović, Mehmet Cerrahoglu

THE HISTORY OF METAL AND HORROR (USA) Director: Mike Schiff
Heavyweights of the metal and horror scene compose the cast of this sinister and cool doc: Michael Berryman (Mulher Nota 1000), Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, Kirk Hammett (Metallica), John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing, Prince of Darkness), Tom Savini (Dawn of the Dead, From Dusk Til Dawn), Dave Mustaine (Megadeth), Jonathan Davis (Korn), Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Kane Hadder (Friday the 13th VII, Hatchet), Doug Bradley (Hellraiser) and much more.

THE DARK SIDE OF SOCIETY (USA) Director: Larry Wade Carrell
Famous directors and authors from the horror world come together to comment and debate the demonized film such as: Julian Sands (24, Warlock, Room with a View), Zeph E Daniel (Society, Bride of ReAnimator), Brian Yuzna (Society, Return of the Living Dead 3), Richard Stanley (Hardwire, The Island of Dr. Moreau), Screaming Mad George (Society, Nightmare on Elm Street IV), Alan Jones (Shortcuts to Hell), David Gregory (Lost Soul), Anthony Timpone (White Knuckle, The Unchanged), John Gullidge.

ROUND TABLES

Brazilian and foreign directors will be present in the round tables mediated by the festival director in the hall of the Cinesystem.

In between the film sessions, Chrys Rochat conducts a fun and highly cultural chat with directors, actors and other industry professionals for the festival audience. These light hearted chats, already brought a lot of laugh and curious details about the backstage of a production, and aim to transmit to the interested party the information straight from people who makes cinema. Creators and creatures compete to gain the spotlight and offer their insider views on the creative process and on set shenanigans. Among the guests already confirmed are directors from Poland, USA, Canada and Brazil.

ROCK HORROR WORKSHOPS

Each year, the Rock Horror Film Festival brings a variety of cinema workshops with well-known industry professionals and this year won’t be any different. Screenwriting, directing, photography, makeup, Fx, soundtracks and more, will be given at the cinema and at the Sin Fronteras Filmes Studio for a public of cinephiles, cinema students, industry professionals and the seventh art aficionados.

SECRET OPENING NIGHT

The festival opening night will feature blockbuster unseen in Brazil, with a big shot that you guys love. Wanna know which film is it?
