Edinburgh International Film Festival expands board with new members

The relaunched Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) has today announced the appointment of current trustee producer Amy Jackson to the role of Vice Chair, and has expanded the board with three new members.



Teresa Moneo, Director of UK Film, Netflix; Isla Macgillivray, Partner at Saffrey; and Romana Ramzan, Producer at No Code Studio will join Chair Andrew Macdonald of DNA Films, producer of the iconic Edinburgh-based film Trainspotting; Peter Rice, former Chairman of General Entertainment at Disney and President of 21st Century Fox; and Vice Chair Amy Jackson, producer of last year’s BAFTA award-winning indie, Aftersun.



Chair of EIFF Board Andrew Macdonald has said: “I am thrilled to welcome three new Trustees to the Board of Directors of EIFF. Teresa Moneo, Romana Ramzan and Isla MacGillvaray each bring an incredibly useful and wide-ranging level of expertise and knowledge to the charity. As we launch year one of a film festival with a seventy-seven year old legacy we welcome the energy and contribution that each brings to our future planning and ambitions.



I am delighted to also announce the appointment of Amy Jackson to the role of Vice Chair in recognition of her invaluable efforts and contribution behind the scenes since the organisation was established in July 2023.



Our Trustees are united in a collective excitement for what this new Edinburgh International Film Festival will become under the direction of CEO & Festival Director, Paul Ridd and his incredible team.'



Teresa Moneo has said: “I am thrilled to be joining the EIFF Board and to be working with my fellow board members. Our collected experience from across the industry will ensure a bright future for EIFF as it champions new filmmaking voices from Scotland, the UK and around the world.”



Romana Ramzan has said: “I am really excited to join the EIFF Board and bring insights from a different industry that I believe will complement and enrich our collective vision. My sincerest thanks to Andrew for bringing me on and I look forward to working closely with the other Board members, leveraging our diverse experiences to ensure that we achieve a meaningful and lasting impact for EIFF”.



Isla MacGillivray has said: “I am delighted to join the board of EIFF and work alongside a fantastic team. EIFF has an incredible film programme and provides further opportunity for Scotland to showcase its continuing industry growth as well as being a platform for filmmakers across the UK and internationally.”



This year’s 77th edition of the Festival honours the film festival’s history, showcasing the very best talent in filmmaking in a format rooted in a local Scottish context whilst embracing the international diversity of creative expression.



This year EIFF showcases 37 new feature films, 18 World Premieres including 10 World Premieres competing for the new Sean Connery Prize for Feature Filmmaking Excellence, 4 special retrospective screenings, 5 short film programmes including the new Thelma Schoonmaker Prize for Short Filmmaking Excellence competition, an In Conversation event with iconic filmmaker Gaspar Noé and a strand of thrilling Midnight Madness screenings which all make up a seven-day celebration of world-class new cinema allowing audiences, press and industry to easily engage with the best of Edinburgh’s other arts and cultural Festivals.



EIFF 2024 is supported by Screen Scotland and the BFI Audience Projects Fund, awarding National Lottery funding, the Industry Programme is backed by EXPO funding from the Scottish Government through Creative Scotland, and EventScotland part of VisitScotland’s Events Directorate.



Edinburgh International Film Festival runs from Thursday 15 to Wednesday 21 August 2024.
