Masterclasses That Inspire
On Saturday, August 31st, we lined up a series of masterclasses at the Red Rooster Pool Hall, covering every aspect of filmmaking—from producing and acting to directing, cinematography, and screenwriting. This is your chance to learn from industry pros like Peter Ebanks, Ulysses Terrero, Florida Film House Directors, Philly Fly Boy, Timothy Richardson, Shaun Mathis, and Logan Burdick. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to sharpen your skills, these sessions will provide invaluable insights.
On Sunday, September 1st, the conversations continue with impactful panels on topics like health awareness in the film industry, film finance, and distribution. We’re also diving into the Latin influence in mainstream media with the Urban Latin Vision Mainstream Connection & Integration panel. These discussions are designed to educate and empower you, giving you the tools you need to succeed in this competitive industry.
This year’s festival features an outstanding lineup of films, including shorts, features, documentaries, and music videos, screened across several iconic venues. Whether you’re at the Lyric Theater, Overtown Performance Arts Center (OPAC), or Dorsey Library, you’ll find a diverse selection of stories that reflect the voices of filmmakers from around the world.
Lyric Main Theater: Don’t miss out on standout films like The Wake Up Call, Am I?, Love After the Holidays, and more.
Lyric Theater #2: Catch films such as I Am Not So Sure About This, Inscribed Intentions, and Reimagining: Queen Nanny of the Maroons.
Overtown Performance Arts Center (OPAC): Enjoy screenings of Happiness Over Everything, Pressure, Deprogram, and other compelling narratives.
Dorsey Library: Experience a curated selection of films that are sure to leave a lasting impact.
The festival culminates in the Urban Film Festival Awards Ceremony on Sunday, September 1st at The Lyric Theater. This is where we honor the exceptional talent and creativity showcased throughout the festival. And what better way to celebrate than with an after-party at Red Rooster Overtown, featuring music by DJ Epps? It’s the perfect way to wrap up a weekend of film, fun, and inspiration.
