Qatar Honored Country at the Fourth Edition of the Marrakech Short Film Festival

The Marrakech Short Film Festival returns strongly for its fourth edition, taking place from September 27 to October 2, 2024 in Marrakech.

This year, it stands out with two exceptional partnerships: firstly, integration into the Marrakech Capital of Islamic Culture program, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication and ICESCO. Secondly, a notable participation in the Qatar X Morocco Year of Culture 2024 program.

This special edition highlights the rich cultural and cinematic diversity of Qatar. For the first time, the festival will host the renowned DFI (Doha Film Institute), Qatar's leading international organization dedicated to film financing, production, education, and film festivals. This collaboration enriches the international cinematic panorama presented during this edition.

The 2024 edition welcomes a distinguished jury chaired by the eminent actress and producer Maysae Maghrebi, famous for her significant roles in the series "Hawamir Alsahraa" and "Lelhob Jonun2". She is joined by award-winning director Sofia Alaoui, known for the short film " Qu'importe si les bêtes meurent " winner of the 2021 César Award for Best Short Film, and for the feature film "Animalia," Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival 2023. Completing this prestigious jury, talented actress Nadia Kounda, cited by Vogue Arabia among the actresses making waves in Arab cinema in 2020, bringing international expertise in film studies to Montreal. This jury of talent will evaluate and reward the best cinematic creations of this edition.

The Marrakech Short Film Festival 2024 promises a captivating selection of national and international short films, showcasing emerging and established talents from Morocco and other countries. The national selection will include 9 films, while the international selection will feature 15 films from various countries such as France, Lebanon, Brazil, Canada, Poland, Senegal, Tunisia, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, and Norway.

The Marrakech Short Film Festival 2024 is a must-attend event for cinephiles and creators from around the world. This edition promises a week of inspiring cinematic discoveries, stimulating encounters, and a celebration of cultural diversity through the art of short film.

The fourth edition of MARRAKECHsFF is in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, as well as ICESCO, THE COMMUNE OF MARRAKECH, THE DOHA FILM INSTITUTE, QATAR MUSEUMS.
