Thanks to Marisa Dabney and Briana Richard, our Funko experience was a total success, this year again, at Comic Con 2024. As always Funko had created a whole vast village within the wall of the San Diego convention center. One of the “must stop” was the Pop Yourself! experience. This year, and for the delight of my boys Max and Rex, they were able to create a unique personalized Pop! figurine of Wolverine and of Deadpool. To better explain us what was different this year at Funko Comic Con 2024, let’s have Marisa give us more information:
Q: What’s the difference with last year?

Marisa: This year we build a whole experience for people to build their own Pop Yourself! figurine and then we make it on the spot, and you can pick it up. We had not done that before and this is very exciting. We have added lots of accessories for the Pop Yourself! figurine which is truly a blessing as people can choose what they like most. For example, you can choose a blade, or a mask to complete your Deadpool or Wolverine Pop! figurine. And you can take a picture with a life size Deadpool or Wolverine on the side of the shop.

Q: How much bigger is the Funko mini city this year?

Marisa: For sure the growth rate has been exponential every year. We tend to add one more shop every year so you can spend a few hours in “Funko town” if you’d like. The online program has also increased as well as the number of people visiting our stores on site. And along the year we do also have special event and special added edition for Mother’s Day for example or for Valentine Day. We even have wedding accessories with a two packs holder for two figurines.

Q: What has been the biggest challenge this year at Comic Con 24? And how did you get Trump and Bidden to agree to have their Pop! figurine?

Marisa: It was a complex job to get their approval but another team at Funko managed this tour de force! The challenge was to add new accessories. Just a few weeks ago we added new type of hair. Such as “animé” hair. There is also a buzz cut style. So, for us, the challenge is to keep growing and to keep reinventing ourselves.

Needless to say, it was such an enchanting stay for our boys at Funko town. On top of the gifted Pop! yourself figurines of Wolverine and Deadpool, the boys bought a few extra Pop! exclusive such as the Pop! Darth Vader (Rogue One) and the Pop! Godzilla, such a classic! And my favorite was their acquisition of the Pop! Kermit with tea; so cool! Reminded me of my youth, watching the Muppets show every Sunday afternoon on television; that was a long time ago, ha-ha!

Over the years I have seen Funko grow into this cultural revolutionary universe, and it is to the merits of the hardworking employees of Funko who are dedicated to make our experience better and better.

I can’t wait to get back to Comic Con next year and discover what Funko has come up with. I’m sure they don’t have finished to surprise us. But before summer 2025, make sure to jump online at www.Funko.com and get yourself a Pop! figurine. You’ll see, it feels good!
